On May 12, 2007, Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, Archdiocese of Kansas City
in Kansas, traveled to Cure' of Ars parish to celebrate an
"Evening of Eucharistic Adoration and Global Living Rosary."
The evening's event was a prelude to the similar event, but on a
much larger scale, planned for Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
in May 2008, and with the support of the Archdiocese and the Diocese
of Kansas City, Missouri. The promoters are inspired by the late
Father Patrick Payton, who organized tremendous stadium-sized rosary crusades
worldwide until his death in 1992.
Over 60 children of the parish participated by leading prayer
at each bead of the rosary, while each decade of the rosary
was led by representatives of Germany, Mexico, India, Vietnam, and
the Republic of Korea, praying in their native tongues.
Archbishop Naumann was joined in the procession and benediction by
Monsignor Charles McGlinn, pastor of Cure' of Ars,
Father James Kelleher, director
of mission development for the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity,
Albuquerque, N.M., many religious members, the Knights of Columbus
Honor Guard, as well as parishioners
and guests from many other parishes in the Kansas City
metropolitan area.
