Cure' of Ars Knights of Columbus Drive for Dinnerware
Collecting Dinnerware and Equipment for New School in Ngara, Tanzania

February, 2016 Update: The shipping container sent by the Franciscan Warehouse Project has arrived at Ngara, Tanzania after clearing customs at Dar es Salaam. Everything is being put to full use, according to the Franciscan sisters.

Post-Drive Update: The parishioners of Cure' of Ars have come through on this project, donating a Franciscan Warehouse Project-truck full of items for Tanzania. Items included 500 sets of dinnerware. One generous and thoughtful parishioner purchased two washers and two dryers brand new at the appliance store for delivery to the Franciscan Warehouse Project warehouse. Another parishioner donated a $100 bill for the project. Many others donated new or used pots, dinnerware, desks, etc., including plates from a neighboring restaurant.

Knights of Columbus members were integral to the success of the drive, under the leadership of council Grand Knight Don Catron, including Ed Lewis, who brought his delivery trucks from the KC Home Med business for knights to use to pick up large items. All items were brought to the Cure' of Ars parking lot, where Sister Andrea and Paul Hanson parked the Franciscan Warehouse Project truck.

The Knights of Columbus council at Cure' of Ars is partnering with the Warehouse Project of the Sisters of Saint Francis of the Holy Eucharist of Independence, Missouri to collect 500 sets of dinnerware to be used by the students of a primary school (pre-k to 7th grades) to be named St. Bonaventure being built this summer in the town of Ngara, located in the Diocese of Rulenge- Ngara, in the northwest corner of Tanzania, in East Africa. This is the area where 200,000 people took refuge temporarily during the horrific massacres in Rwanda 20 years ago.

Any kind of dinnerware (used, new, melamine, ceramic, metal, hard plastic, etc. ) will be suitable.
